Thanks for your story contribution.

Your story illustrates the *whole point* of the Sensible Math Education web site: parents are in charge of their children's education, not schools!

Even if the parents can't help a child with higher math homework, they are still in charge of helping the child get the help he or she needs and making sure the child is tracked appropriately in his or her math classes.
