My American Math Education Story

I was in high school in the 50's. I took algebra and if it were not for my Aunt who was a math teacher I would have failed miserably. It was really hard. My aunt meticulously helped me with my homework and tried to help me get the point, which I did at the time.
My future did not include a job where algebra and other maths were needed. I lost what I did learn.
I can not tell you how many times I would like to figure out a problem in my every day life that understanding algebra would solve. I have often searched the internet to try to figure something out.
You are doing a very important thing in my opinion. Proper education applies to every day life. You are helping get the point across to parents that a better system is needed for each and every child.
